KUBO
There is a new animated movie out right now that is a MUST SEE. It's KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS. I went and saw this movie and it is excellent. It's in a 3D animation style and it works great with the film. The story is awesome and I love the way they actually put it in a Japanese setting. Visually, it is stunning. If it's playing anywhere around you go and see this movie.

Most of what I put on this page is Books, Movies, Comics or just Whatever. It's in the description even. Well today's items will definitely fall into the WHATEVER category. First of which is a website where you can watch an artist draw and paint while live streaming and you can be in the chat room and talk to him and ask questions and even talk to the others in the chat. He's live so he can just talk to you and keep his hands busy being our art monkey. This artist is Bryan King. You can watch him when he's on by going to his channel https://www.twitch.tv/neorealms .
A lot of what he has been drawing and painting is for a game app he and Steven McCall have made for phones and android devices called TOWER RUMBLE. If you hurry you can be part of the Beta testing by going to their website and downloading it for free. They've just revamped it before official release. I've been playing it for about a month and it's good enough that it's cutting into my art time.... AND NOW IT'S EVEN FUNNER! What ever is one to do?
If you like art and peeking behind the curtian to see how it's done then check his twitch channel for his future streams. If you're an artist that likes watching other artists to help improve your own skills then be sure to watch because Bryan is also an art teacher and will stop in the middle of what he's working on to answer questions and show techniques. As for as the game, just go get it and start having some fun I tells ya.

COURTNEY CRUMRIN vol One The Night Things
This book is by Ted Naifeh (written & illustrated ) and I've only recently discovered it. Its a hard cover graphic novel.
It follows a young girl when her and her parents move in with her great Uncle, Aloysus Crumrin. It's full of magic and wonder and goblins and hidden cities and such.
It's a great read and I love the artwork. Be sure to check it out and I need to go and get vol 2.

THE DINOSAUR PROJECT
This turned out to be an interesting movie. It's basically finding dinosaurs in a hidden part of Africa movie but done with a modern technology viewpoint. You're viewing the footage that would be taken from hi tech cameras and only from the cameras taken on the trip. The main explorer's son stows away and when discovered has to tag along. He's also the reason for the more hi tech cameras. If you like lost Dinosaur flicks then this is one you will probably enjoy. I didn't think I would at first but then it surprised me.
STRANDED
This movie was made in 2001 so do not confuse it with the moonbase movie from 2013, which I haven't seen yet. This movie is about a group of Astronauts on the first manned mission to Mars and the Crash Landing and trying to survive long enough to see if a rescue mission is possible.
It's actually a pretty good movie and I enjoyed watching it. Check it out if you like the sci fi and getting stuck on a planet type stuff.
COLIN AND BRAD : TWO MAN GROUP
This is Improv done by two of the greats of Improv. It's fun and funny and very enjoyable. Well worth your time. Make time to check this one out. How can two people do improv? If it's the right two you don't ask that question. These are the right two.

BROODHOLLOW WEB COMIC
Kris Straub , creator of the web comics STARSLIP and CHAINSAW SUIT has a new web comic called BROODHOLLOW. I'm delighted that it's a Horror comic also. In fact he describes it as, "An anxiety-ridden man, struggling to overcome his elaborate fears and phobias, slowly learns that they may be an unlikely key to understanding a town’s disturbing supernatural events. Or so he believes."
He just finished book one and the comics will return in October. Perfect time for a horror comic to return, don't you think? I know I do. I also like the fact that he's kept his comic style similar to what he's done in the past. I did some horror comic stories and tried a different style and have regretted it. Check out BROODHOLLOW , you will be glad you did.
HEMLOCK GROVE
I've recently have joined Netflix. My one regret about this is that I waited so long to do it. I've just watched the first season of HEMLOCK GROVE and found it quite interesting. The first time you see the werewolf transformation you will realize that it is one of the more unique transformations for the genre.
I really like that the sister in the series was named Shelly. Especially if they did it on purpose as a nod to Mary Shelly the writer. If you watch the series you will understand this.
I don't want to say too much about it because that would cause spoilers now wouldn't it, and we don't want that. Needless to say if you like horror you should like this. It's a little bit of horror with a touch of soap opera thrown in. This is also an original Netflix series.
JUSTICE LEAGUE
This is the cartoon and I have been watching season one. I'm enjoying the mess out of this I tells ya. I must be after looking at my watch history on Netflix. The Justice League is what I've been watching the most of. As soon as I catch up I will be watching JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED.
This makes me think about the way people watch t.v. nowadays. You've got the dvr's that you can program but that's just a fancy vcr type of situation. It's the idea of watching a whole season at a time. I'm rather enjoying that myself. I still hang on to the old times and switch up shows that I'm watching but every now and then I will do a three or four in a row of a whole show. Before long though, I will probably pick a show and watch an entire season and nothing else until I get thru with that season just to see how it goes.
Check out the Justice League.

GAME OF THRONES
You've got your Medieval type situation with the dysfunctional feudal system with everyone wanting to be king of everyone else, add in a little sorcery and a dragon here and there and you've got yourself one fine series on HBO I tells ya what.
If the book series is just a quarter as good as the t.v. series then I need to be reading that series. Let's face it, the books are almost always better. But I'm enjoying the HBO series right now. I'm on season two watching it on DVD. I will watch every one of them and highly recommend it.
I will also say this, Peter Dinklage's character, Tyrion Lannister, is by far my favorite character in the series. It's a combination of how he's written and portrayed by Dinklage.

OZ, THE GREAT & POWERFUL
I went to see OZ on the opening weekend at my local theater and it was in 3D no less. Those glasses made the people in the seats in front of me look like I could reach out and touch the back of their heads. They also kept asking me to stop touching the back of their heads. The movie itself was very cool. I loved the way we get to see how the Wizard arrives in OZ. I won't go into much detail so not to spoil any of the moments but it is a movie worth seeing in the theater if you get the chance and apparently the Wizard was a bit of a Mack Daddy in his hey-day which tends to get him into more that he's bargained for on many occasions. Oh ..... and it has a winged monkey in a bellhop suit as a companion. What more could you ask for?
THE WOMAN IN BLACK
Daniel Radcliffe , you may remember him as Harry Potter, stars in this horror film. Radcliffe plays a widowed lawyer that has to go to a remote village to sort out the affairs and a house of a deceased eccentric. The house is in the middle of a marsh... which is cool for a horror film.... the driveway is winding but solid even if a foot away from it, it's nothing but muck and water. My driveway is on solid ground and I cant keep the pot holes from washing out, especially with all the rain we've had lately and it's very short compared to the "road" drive way this marsh house has. If I could figure out how they did that I would be ever so grateful.
The story is set at the turn of the century... not this century... the one before. The turn of the 21st century wouldn't have been cool at all. The turn of the 20th from the 19th though is perfect for a horror movie. When I saw the previews I thought it would be the late 1800's but one villager had the only car in the village which means it was taking place in the 1920's or teens even.
Of course if it's a horror movie then you know the house is haunted and of course the villagers are trying to keep it a secret and try to get him to leave acting like it's all his fault that the bad events befalling them wouldn't have happen if he had left. Of course he might have left if they had just said , "Hey , a bunch of bad stuff will befall the village if you stay and here's why so get the heck out!" Of course then you wouldn't have much of a movie.
I did enjoy it, and I thought they did some cool things with it. Does it have a twist ending or not is the question. If I tell you it has one then you spend the whole movie trying to figure out what it is. If it doesn't then you wonder how good of a Horror movie it is. If it was a M. Night Shamalamadingdong movie then you automatically know it has one. This is not a M. Night movie though and I'm not telling if it has a twist at the end so ninny ninny boo boo. Watch it yourself and find out. If you like horror then you'll enjoy it.

DOCTOR WHO DVD "INVASION"
If you're a fan of DOCTOR WHO, especially the classic episodes, then the "INVASION" dvd is awesome. Patrick Troughton is the second Doctor and it's one of his "lost" episodes. During the classic Doctor Who time on t.v. the show was shown in half hour segments with cliff hangers. The number of episodes per story varied from episode to episode. Usually there were just four or five. "INVASION" was eight episodes. That's over three hours when you're watching it in one run. Of course it wasn't available for a long time because the BBC was missing the video for episodes one and four. They had all of the audio but not the video for those two episodes. They came up with a unique solution. They animated the missing episodes. They even did it in black and white to match the fell of the show back then. All of the first and second Doctor's episodes were in black and white due to the time period they were filmed in ( 1960's ). I've got to say they did a great job with it. I loved it. I wish they were get surviving Doctors to voice new classic animated shows. If you get the chance I highly suggest this DVD.
DOCTOR WHO & STAR TREK N.G. TRADE COMIC BOOK "ASSIMILATION squared" vol one
If you enjoy comics, Doctor Who & Star Trek then try not to wet your pants when you find out that there is a Doctor Who Star Trek cross over Comic Book. That's right, I didn't stutter .... mainly because I'm typing this. it's called Assimilation Squared ( they used the small raised number two at the end of the word Assimilation but I can't seem to figure out how to make my computer do
that ). It involves the Cybermen and the Borg. Any Whovian already knows that the first time we saw a Borg episode of STTNG our first thoughts went to a Cybermen comparison. It's cool somebody used that in a cross over story.
I tend to read my comics now in trades or graphic novels, whichever term you like best. This is vol one which collects the first story arc and I quite enjoyed it. It uses the eleventh Doctor with the Next Generation crew but you do get to see a flashback with the fourth Doctor and the original series crew. I couldn't wait when I heard that IDW was doing this series and I really enjoyed the first vol trade. I believe it contains the first four issues of eight. Now I can't wait till I get vol two which is out now. In fact I have one waiting on me at THREE ALARM COMICS to pick up while I'm down there on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY , May 4th. Go read something and Make it Assimilation Squared. Just contact one of your local comic book shops to find it.
